"Around the Neighborhoods" News

APPLEGROVE Thank you to Kay Couch and Jennifer Cadin for organizing the Applegrove carolers in December! Despite the snow and cold, the kids had a blast. We hope this tradition continues … Special thanks to all who helped our neighbors shovel out and clear the sidewalks during the big snowstorm in December — which took days! … Here’s to an early spring! As always, let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

DAIRY LOU … George Conway is nothing less than “The Hero of White Barn Court” for spending several hours on Sunday, December 20, clearing the street of snow to make it passable for those trying to get in and out of the neighborhood … In addition, along with other neighbors, he cleared a long driveway for a senior citizen neighbor, Jack and Dolores Walker. Many thanks, George!

Wine and Cheese Club

(For Franklin Farm Residents East of Fairfax County Parkway)

The Wine and Cheese Club meets in members’ homes September to May, usually the first Sunday of the month, from 5–7 p.m.

This is a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors, and all residents of Franklin Farm who live east of the Fairfax County Parkway are welcome to join in the fun.

Sign up now to get on the e-vite list for all future parties. Please Send an e-mail to Shirley Maloney. The subject line for your message should be “Join Wine.” Include your name(s), address, phone, and, most important, an e-mail address you check regularly.

You will receive an e-vite two weeks before each party. The next Wine and Cheese event is scheduled for Sunday, September 7.

Please Scoop the Poop!

Dog walkers throughout the Farm are reminded to clean up after their pets. Be considerate of your neighbors’ property, and keep your pets away from their lawns, shrubs, and trees. Please police areas along the sidewalks, streets, paths, ponds, and open space to keep the Farm clean and neat for everyone to enjoy.

Also, remember that pet waste provides food for rats and mice, so your assistance in keeping our community pet waste-free is much appreciated.

Many thanks for your help!
