Mother Nature Smiles on Earth Day Cleanups

The sun shone on Saturday, April 19, as Franklin Farm residents celebrated Earth Day by grabbing brooms, shovels, rakes, and trash bags to clean up their neighborhoods and make the community sparkle.

Many thanks to all who participated and, especially, to the members of the Open Space Committee, which sponsored the event. Committee members handed out trash bags, coffee, and doughnuts at the Still Pond Tot Lot and led interested residents in planting activities and cleanups around the Farm.

Special thanks also go to Clean Fairfax Council, for providing trash bags and handouts, to Fairfax ReLeaf for donating tree seedlings, and to Starbucks, for providing coffee for the event.

It was a beautiful day for outside activities. The Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to all the friends and neighbors who manned a broom, fought poison ivy, planted a tree, or took home a plant or tree seedling.

Graduates!

If you or someone in your family is graduating this spring, please send us graduation information (name, neighborhood, school, degree/diploma received, future plans, etc.) so we can include it in our June and July issues.

Congratulations to all and many thanks for your help!

Please Scoop the Poop!

Dog walkers throughout the Farm are reminded to clean up after their pets. Be considerate of your neighbors’ property, and keep your pets away from their lawns, shrubs, and trees. Please police areas along the sidewalks, streets, paths, ponds, and open space to keep the Farm clean and neat for everyone to enjoy.

Also, remember that pet waste provides food for rats and mice, so your assistance in keeping our community pet waste-free is much appreciated.

Many thanks for your help!
